Intro to Robotics and Coding

LEARNING OUTCOME

Using basic programming in Robotics and Coding to promote logical thinking. A robot is a machine that can be programmed to do certain tasks.

SESSION activities

Screen free activities to introduce computational, logical thinking and basic programming concepts.

Meet Ozobot and begin colour coding.

SCIENCE EDUCATOR demonstrations

  • Computers can only do what you tell them to do.
  • Computer language is a code. A code can be words, letters, colours and other things.
  • How to use Cubetto maps.

STUDENT experiments

  • Follow the leader. Follow the directions of a student programmer.
  • Follow the cards using code sequences.
  • Investigate how to play a game using Cubetto maps.
  • Ozobot Robot activities working in pairs
  • Ozobot Robots Day at the beach… differentiating between dark and light paper to read colour codes.
