I have been re-reading Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson – fascinating life. I hope you forgive my corniness but I am feeling inspired and corny this morning 😉 I am still very much inspired by my favourite Jobs quote:
“When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and you’re life is just to live your life inside the world.
Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money.
That’s a very limited life.
Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.
Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.”
It has only been the last couple of years that the power of this way of thinking has been made clear to me and I hope you all see it too. All the business systems, products and companies that are out there have been made up by people no smarter than us, and we can change and compete with (and beat) them on their level if we really want to. You know that feeling you get like you have no idea what you are doing? Everyone feels that way from time to time, especially the so called experts, so don’t worry just keep going.
So let’s all push for the next big innovation, ignore the doubters and make the big idea happen (or lots of little ideas as big ideas are usually just a bunch of little ones smushed together) because if we don’t make that next big thing happen, no-one else will.
